E or Í Doctor?
The internet will never replace my doctors.
I tried to make an appointment last week. The phone call to my doctor was answered by a nice lady with a strong accent somewhere 5 hours away I was told at their “medical center headquarters.” I speak 3 languages plus French and Italian less than perfect. I could barely understand her.
When I asked a question about my local doctor (7 minutes away from me) she had no idea what I was asking.
So I hung up and drove to the doctor’s office. I brought a box of expensive donuts for the staff. Thank God there’s still a human receptionist! He’s very polite, well informed and helpful.
I felt wanted as a patient and I got face to face human attention. I solved my problem but MUCH MORE THAN THAT. I was respected and the interaction I know actually helped me medically.
We need to be very careful in replacing healthcare personnel with algorithms. One of my older doctors told me in a few years I’ll be gone and replaced by a network and cyberspace!”
I hope the hell not!

Kathi. Doctor staff are THE most important humans to keep us connected to medicine!!
Stay well
Made me laugh ….. I LOVED that you took donuts to the office…. I am taking Carmel corn tomorrow to my ortho group because they have been so good with my “hip” care…. Answering texts and e-mails….👍🏽💕
