In a very unusual action for an Iowa Governor Gov Kim Reynolds endorsed GOP Presidential candidate Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. I believe it will not substantially affect the support for Trump in Iowa. His base is solid.
But I think it will shift to DeSantis, support from Haley, Christie, Ramaswami and some of the other remaining lagging contenders. That would shrink the field to two and could pump up the support for DeSantis in New Hampshire and other primaries.
That would be very important for his flailing campaign. Reynolds is an important and visible national player in the GOP. It's just the kind of positive jolt the Governor needs.
Her decision to endorse DeSantis is a rare admission that many Republicans are very worried about Donald Trump.
While he’s ahead and almost certain to win the Iowa caucuses, primaries, and the Republican nomination the general election in November will pose a challenge for Trump.
So, before the first formal contest for nomination, the Iowa caucuses, a top GOP leader, Kim Reynolds, decides to veer from Trump and endorse the second place contender in most polls. And Donald Trump immediately attacked Reynolds.
Very interesting.
